Immediate dentures
If your teeth need to be removed, we make the denture in advance. It goes in right after the extraction — you will not spend a single day without teeth.

How does it work?
We take the impressions while you still have your teeth. So the denture is ready on the day they are removed.
- Your teeth need to be removed soon
- You do not want to be without teeth while you heal
- The denture protects the wound and helps it heal
- After a few months we adjust it or make a permanent denture
Frequently asked questions
What you can expect
Why does it need to be adjusted again later?
After the extraction your jaw shrinks, especially in the first months. The denture then becomes looser. During that period we can temporarily line it with a soft layer; after six to twelve months a permanent denture usually follows.
Does it look good right away?
Yes. We discuss the shape and color of the teeth beforehand, so the denture suits your face. Your gums will be swollen for the first few weeks; that goes down.
How long does it take to get used to it?
It takes time: expect a few months, sometimes longer. Eating, talking and tasting feel different than with your own teeth. That is normal, and it gets better every week.
How should I eat at first?
Cut your food into small pieces, start with soft food and take small bites. Be careful with hot drinks: you feel heat less well. If something gets under the denture, take it out briefly and rinse it.
I sound different when I talk. Will that pass?
Yes. Especially the s, z, f and t sounds can be different at first. Reading aloud, for example from the newspaper, helps you get used to it faster.
What if I run into a problem along the way?
Feel free to call us. In the first period we see you a few times for checkups and relieve any sore spots. Often a short explanation or a tip is all it takes.
Not sure whether this is right for you?
Stop by or give us a call. A first consultation comes with no obligation, and afterwards you will know exactly where you stand.
